Getting Started with Claude Projects
Claude Projects let you create reusable AI workspaces with persistent instructions, knowledge files, and consistent behaviour. Think of a Project as an AI employee that already knows your processes.
What You Need
- Claude Pro ($20/month) or Claude Teams ($25/month per seat)
- A process you want to automate or standardise
Your First Project
- Open claude.ai and click Projects in the sidebar
- Click Create Project
- Give it a clear name (e.g., "Curriculum Materials Creator")
- Add Custom Instructions — this is where the magic happens. These instructions persist across every conversation in the project
- Upload Knowledge Files — PDFs, docs, or text files that give Claude context about your specific needs (curriculum standards, style guides, templates)
- Start a conversation — Claude will follow your instructions automatically
Why This Matters
Without a Project, you're writing the same prompts over and over. With a Project, you write the instructions once and every conversation starts from that foundation.
That's the difference between using AI and having an AI system.
